Hay Festival

04 May Hay Festival 26th May – 5th June 2016

The world-renowned Hay Festival takes place at the end of this month, in the town of books, Hay on Wye. It’s around half an hour from the cottage, so ideally placed if you’re planning a quick hop to take in some events.

Bringing together writers from around the world in the Brecon Beacons, the festival offers a packed programme across the 11 days, combining novelists, environmentalists, poets, comedians, scientists and film-makers. This year these include Chris Packham, Simon Armitage, Turin Brakes, Ruby Wax, Germaine Greer, Shami Chakrabarti, Roger McGough and far too many more to list here.

The town

Hay during the festival is busy, buzzy and unlike any other place. If you haven’t been, then do try it, grab a ticket to a smaller event and settle in. It’s a very special experience.
