The new wooden, shaker style kitchen is now\u00a0in downstairs in the rear extension. The really old flagstones were uncovered when the not-quite-so-old vinyl, carpet and bitumen layers were taken up off the floor, so they’ve been left where they are, and treated so that they’ll look amazing. Dimmable, zoned LED lighting has also been installed, which allows for great lighting flexibility in the room, whether you’re making dinner for 6 or having a cosy meal for two. There’s also an energy efficient induction hob, oven, integrated dishwasher and a freestanding fridge freezer, and a beautiful, deep ceramic sink. I wasn’t allowed a Belfast sink, though, as the walls are so thick to drill through (we’re talking over a metre!) that it took the builders about half a day when they tried for another cable, so I needed to work with the waste pipes that were already in place. The sink I chose is still pretty lovely!<\/p>\n
Above is the kitchen space with the first mist coat of paint and then a second normal coat of white. I’m thinking about a heritage-style green for the back wall and neutral cream tones everywhere else.<\/p>\n

And this is a work-in-progress shot of the beautiful wooden shaker-style kitchen, fitted by Dave the builder. I just want to make a cup of tea(read have a glass of wine) in it already, \u00a0so hopefully there’ll be lots of opportunities for that soon!<\/p>\n
Yay! And now the sink is in too, despite me ordering a sink that was deeper than the worktops – oops. \u00a0Here’s a little peek…<\/p>\n
